The Community Development Core Committee organized a New Year celebration on December 22, 2006. “Let’s
Celebrate the New Year Together” was entirely prepared by area residents and youngsters, with the help of the volunteer teams. All of them invested their time and ideas to make the event a success, while World Vision, an international NGO working in the area, offered gifts to the participants.
About 250 residents attended the event. The program included spiritual, cultural and social parts, such as sketches, Armenian dances and choir songs. At the end of 
the event, there was an exhibition o f children’s handicrafts and paintings created during the summer activities. An open buffet of food and refreshments was offered to the public.
The event ultimately supported the basis of the Community Development Program: cooperation among community members and their active participation in community activities.
