JMP–L, in cooperation with the Lebanese non-governmental organization Green Hand, provided the opportunity for women from the Aley region and Bourj Hammoud to participate in an exhibition of handmade foods and crafts, from July 10 to August 30, 2009, Fridays through Sundays.
The exhibition, which was held in Aley (Chouf area) under the name “Authentic Green Home–Aley” in partnership with the Municipality of Aley, aimed at encouraging women to sell their handmade products and promote authentic Lebanese handcrafts, healthy traditional food, and traditional soaps and other products among the Lebanese general public. At the same time, it encouraged their producers to find markets for their products and improve their income by selling them.
Several women from the Bourj Hammoud area participated in the exhibition, where JMP–L was given three stands.
They were referred to by JMP–L’s Community Development Office and provided with free transportation by JMP–L. Some of them had made traditional Armenian homemade dishes and desserts, while others had prepared handcrafts, Armenian embroidery, and other artworks.
In a unique setting decorated with beautiful sculptures, stands were set up where the participating women displayed their handmade products. The event welcomed numerous visitors and tourists.
